ICJP writes to Scotland Yard War Crimes Unit demanding that Israeli President is investigated upon arrival in the UK

On the 10^th and 11^th September, Isaac Herzog, President of Israel, visited the UK. He is expected to meet with UK ministers. ICJP wrote to Scotland Yard, demanding that the Israeli President be investigated upon his arrival in the UK, on suspicion of bearing criminal liability for alleged war crimes.

The correspondence was sent to SO15, Scotland Yard’s War Crimes Unit. Herzog is suspected of bearing criminal liability for alleged war crimes, crimes against humanity, torture, and actions that constitute plausible genocide contrary to the Criminal Justice Act, the Geneva Conventions Act 1957, and the International Criminal Court (ICC) Act 2001.

ICJP called for his investigation and interview, noting that diplomatic immunity would not preclude SO15 from interviewing him and otherwise investigating him, in compliance with the UK’s international and domestic obligations.
